As an architect and REALTOR I read a lot of different content related to both industries. Sometimes that gives me some insight into the other industry altogether. This is on one of those cases. In a recent poll among builders they were asked which features they would likely include and which ones they wouldn’t.
I feel like this can be directly related to what will add value in your home and what might just be a nice perk. Here’s the criteria.
1- means not likely to include at all (I’m interpreting as its nice but my buyers don’t really want to pay for it so the value isn’t really there)
5- means very likely to include (I’m interpreting as- this is a selling feature for your home and people will probably be willing to pay for it/ if it doesn’t have this it might not make a buyers list)
4.9- Walk-in Closet in Master
4.8- Laundry Room
4.7- Low-e windows
4.5- Energy Star rated appliances
4.5- Programmable thermostat
4.5- 9’+ ceilings on 1st floor
4.4- Central Island in kitchen
4.4- Granite countertop in kitchen
4.4- Energy-star rated windows
At the bottom of the list
1.3- Cork Flooring
1.6- Pet washing station
1.7- Laminate countertop in kitchen
1.9- Outdoor Kitchen
This list goes on for quite a while. My take away is that if you are listing a home with some more unique features it may just take a bit longer to find the right buyer for your home.
Have a good week!
